What is the Falkland School Charitable Trust?
The Falkland School Charitable Trust is a charity linked to Falkland Primary School and was founded in June 1999. It works in partnership with the fundraising committee (FSA) to help with projects which help enrich the lives of the children while they are at our school. The current Chair of the Charitable Trust is Mr Sam Shopland.
Who is the FSA?
Every parent and member of staff of Falkland School are automatically a member of the FSA. We regularly meet to discuss any upcoming events and fund raising. All are welcome at the meetings and the atmosphere is friendly and relaxed! Opinions and suggestions are always valued and carefully considered.
What do we do?
The FSA is best known for fundraising, raising thousands of pounds every year. Monies are spent on improving equipment and resources to enhance our children’s education and the facilities in school in general.
Not all the events we run raise funds for the school. Some, like our ever popular School Discos and annual Easter Egg Hunt are purely for the enjoyment of our children and yes, for the adults! Our events also offer a great opportunity for parents, staff and pupils to socialize together.
We are very fortunate at our school to have a well supported organisation that is and has been such an integral part of the school community for many years.
How is money raised?
Most FSA money is raised through our two big fund raising events – our annual Christmas Bazaar in the winter and our Summer Fete. Other events include Bags to School and Quiz nights to name a few.
We can match-fund any profit raised from our events via Vodafone employees. If you, or a family member, work for Vodafone and can help at an event and claim match-funding, please contact Linda Taylor on lindataylor20@gmail.com. Thank you for your support!
Some of what we have achieved
- Built a new Multi-Purpose Hall
- Installed an Adventure Trail and Access Path
- Purchased a PA System
- Provided financial support across the school for Falkland Arts Week
- Drama activities across the whole school provided by Razzamataz
- A new ICT suite
How Can You Get Involved?
There are many different ways you can help, even if you only have a small amount of time available. All parents and members of the school community can get involved and help and support our children through the FSA.
Offering to help before events (eg selling raffle tickets, sourcing prizes, wrapping gifts, organising crafts, delivering our Summer Programme, baking for cake sales etc.) or during events (eg setting up, running a stall, helping sell refreshments, supervising children, clearing up etc.) or at other times during the year is so valuable. We really couldn’t achieve what we do without the unseen ‘army of help’ that exists in school.
(Turning up at an event also helps…!)
Please do let us know if you have any contacts or skills we could use – we would love to have you on board!
YOUR VOICE COUNTS!
