Wellbeing
Our whole school approach to wellbeing means that decisions are made with children's and adult's wellbeing in mind. Here at Falkland we have a multitude of resources and routes to support.
Pastoral Care
We are very lucky to have a highly skilled and experienced Pastoral Team who are able to support all our families through specific interventions, advice for parents and staff and signposting to other useful agencies.
Our team follow a Therapeutic approach to support all pupils with any pastoral need. Our team meet regularly to discuss our pastoral caseload, and plan support for our children and families whether affected by anxiety, behavioural needs, separation/divorce, bereavement or any other pastoral need.
Emotional Literacy Support Assistant
Our 4 trained ELSAs are available to any pupils who need additional Emotional Support and this is a highly effective intervention to remove social barriers to learning.
Emotional Health Academy Support Worker
As a school, we buy into the Emotional Health Academy Service and have an allocated support worker for 6 hours per weeks. This means that she can see up to 6 pupils a week on her caseload. As well as offering emotional support to our children, she is also able to signpost and refer to other agencies.
Mental Health Support Team
We are part of the MHST and meet regularly to discuss how to meet children’s needs who are struggling with their mental health. A support programme may be put into place as a result or the family/school may be signposted to additional support.
Sign Posting to other agencies
The Pastoral team may suggest that you as a family or your child are signposted to other helpful services that are specialists of emotional support, such as; The Emotional Health Academy, CAMHS, The Therapeutic Thinking Team, and a number of other services.
Referral System
All Pastoral referrals are triaged by the team and support and advice provided. If you have a concern about your child’s emotional well-being, then please speak with their teacher or the Inclusion Lead Teacher who will make the referral.
